This is so sad...
Ok, I'm sure we've all seen the occasional "WTF?" look from the average schmoe when they see us with no doors. I expect that. Maybe they've never seen one without doors before (especially a 4-door) and they are surprised by it. I can live with that. I even enjoy it sometimes.
But this time was different, because the look came from someone who was driving a Jeep....

I pulled into a gas station across from another 4-door (a shiny clean sahara with hard top on and windows rolled up). Mine is doorless, topless, and muddy. The guy looked at my Jeep with the most disgusted "WTF?" look I've ever seen.
"How's it going?" I asked, waving politely as I climbed out of my Jeep.
"What happened to your doors?" he asked, still with the disgusted "WTF?" look on his face.
"Whadya mean?" I asked.
"Your doors...why did you take them off?" He asked, as if he's never seen such a thing before.
"Uhh...because I can....?" I replied, with some trepidation over what his next response might be.
The guy shook his head and mumbled "Why anybody would take a brand new vehicle and do that to it is beyond me."
"Dude, have you ever owned a Jeep before? You know they're meant to come off, right?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
He just shook his head and got back into his "SUV" and drove away.
This completely ruined my day. Somebody please say something to cheer me up; convince me that this was just an isolated incident; reassure me that there are still jeepers out there who get it. Please tell me the "Jeep thing" isn't falling by the wayside.

Honestly, I really think this was bound to happen when they added the four doors. Of course there are still those who drive olders Jeeps or who deal with the daily pain of new 2 drs (really, I don't think they expected us to get 4 people in it) who "get it". You just cannot expect every 4 dr owner is going to want to be "part of the club".
Maybe they should require the completion of a survey before being allowed to purchase a Jeep.
As for a good story? How's this:
I got in a terrible car accident and totaled my Cavalier. She wasn't much but she was my baby and I felt HORRIBLE. Went to the salvage yard on a daily basis and cried over her. I've always wanted a Jeep - had pictures of them on my wall as a kid yet. However, after the accident I decided (foolishly) that I didn't deserve one (??). So I proceeded to start negotiations for another boring small car.
However, one day I saw an add on Craig's list for a brand new 2006 Jeep. I thought, I'll just take it for a test drive just so I know what it is like to drive one. During that test drive, in a Jeep decked out with dealer plates, stickers and soap advertising on the windows, I was waiting to turn and a black CJ, fully mod'ed was driving past. He waved. I waved back reflexively and the the reality of what happened hit me. My first Jeep wave. I was so. giddy. (I'm sure the sales guy thought I was an idiot) I decided right then and there that I *had* to be a part of this community. I got back to the dealership and ordered a 2007. And I then went back to the salvage yard for the last time, pried the emblem off my baby and wished her well.
So there. There ARE Jeep people out there.

I've found as well lately that less and less people are buying Jeeps for a purpose, but more as a status symbol. I just saw an "older" lady driving a brand new Rubi 4 dr with a pink steering wheel cover the other day, with her most likely daughter with her windshield sized Gucci glasses and make-up aplied with a plaster tool. Maybe she got swindled into buying it, maybe not, but I know for a fact that it will never see more then the gravel build up at the end of her driveway. I still wave to every Jeep I see, but have been getting less and less everyday. I had more with my old TJ, maybe the 4dr throws them off? Regardless, I know why I bought my Jeep, to bad other people don't...

I bet he drove home and took his doors off just to see
