Default Is there that much of a difference?

Is there a big difference between 16 and 17" rims other than the obvious? 1"..

I have a chance to get a nice set of DC1 16.8 for $300 but I am afraid it's going to look too small compared to my stock 17"

Either way I will be getting 33s for it so I am wondeing if the size is that big of a difference

Its all in what you like. You'll find lots of people on here with 15, 16, 17, and even 18s. Its a personal question. You may also ant to check the back spacing on the other rims.

Tires for 16" wheels are much less expensive, that's what I'll be going for when the time comes.

Thanks Guys

I have to admit the most frustrating part of upgrading ( If You consider it to be) is the figuring out of tires and rims combo to fit your jeep

I cannot tell you how long I have searched and googled info on tires and wheels

JEEEZ !

It all depends on what size tire you may put on in the future. 17 inch have a larger backspacing to accomidate up to a 40inch tire, where you may not be able to do that with 16 unless you put wheel spacers in.

If you are running without beadlocks, the smaller height of the sidewall with 17 or 18" rims will help prevent breaking the bead while aired down. More sidewall, more leverage on the bead. As you go up in size of tires, you should always consider increasing the size of your wheels also.

More info from the Wheel and Tire Faq:
"Q: Is there any advantages to running a larger rim size vs. a smaller size?
A: Yes, a larger rim size will reduce tire sidewall flexing and this will provide better handling on pavement. On the trail, less sidewall flex can also help to make your Jeep feel more stable on off camber situations. "

the biggest tire i have been able to find for a 16" wheel is the 315/75R16 size, which is a 35"

a 17" wheel and a 15" wheel can accomodate a 37" so.. i would stick with the 17's and get some spacers, or a 17" after market wheel
