Thinking of Jumping the JK, literally!
So my buddies and I are making a short film where there's a baja car chase in it. We think it'd be cool to jump the JK and catch a foot or two of air. But, it's my JK and although I think this will look awesome, it's also my only vehicle and have little to no money for any kind of technical repairs. So, I'm 50/50 on the idea.
I have 33's and a 2" BB with stock control arms and stock everything else. I also have front/rear steel bumpers.
Anyway, give your logical insight.
-Have you ever caught air or seen someone do it?
-How do you think the JK would do if it caught a foot of air? Am I looking at any significant damage?
P.S. this baja trail is a huge sand & grain wash that's about 8 miles long at on average 2-3 car lengths wide with obstacles from time to time. I've been on it plenty of times so I know the route like the back of my hand.

I'm sure there's a "CHANCE" that if you did it "ONE" time your JK might handle it fine. But there's a "CHANCE" that "ONE" time might break it bigtime. If you need your JK full time and can't afford to have her down at all, well.... then there's your answer.....Hmmmmmm.....let's see.......Look cool for a flick, or take the chance....??? School of "hard knocks" is always in session.
I've jumped mine twice. Both times no damage, and my friend has a video, I'll try and find it.
But I defintely won't be doing it again, and wouldn't recommend it. I'm also broke and need my DD and can't afford the bent axle housing, shafts, c's, etc. could occur, espec. if you have an x with a d-30.

I did it one time when I was off roading at night. I crossed a tank trail 30 MPH that I didn't see and it caused me to jump about 3 ft. in the air. I landed hard on the front wheels, front left fender broke off, and the bracket that connects my steering stabilizer to the axle half broke off and had to be welded back on. On top of that my alignment was screwed up and I had to drive the rest of the way home with my steering wheel turned halfway to the left. My friend just about died laughing, and I suspect your friends will too, but it caused me other problems that I had to deal with through out the year until I finally got it all straightened out.
Big no go....You would be boned if you damaged something especially if it's your daily driver and if it broke....you would be cursing a few choice words and banging your head....why was I so stupid!!!! Flick that little devil off your shoulder and listen to your good angel this time
