Wow....some one asks a question and it seems like we have Beavis and Butthead here acting like they know everything.

You guys aren't as smart as you "think" you are. When a vehicle is updated with "minor" changes as is the case with the 2011 JK....what the manufacturers will do in the development stages is to use the previous model year's production vehicle and "modify" it with the changed parts. This then becomes the "Prototype" testing vehicle, which saves the car manufacturer "Millions" of dollars in development costs, since that's what it costs to build a single "Prototype" vehicle from the ground up.

So this has already been done by Chrysler at some point, thus it is very "possible" to do it. Now exactly what has to be done to make it work is the question being asked.

The only ones that would know for sure at this point of what has to be done would be the engineers at Chrysler who were working on these particular changes. It will take some reverse engineering time for others to know and since the 2011 was just released....don't expect anyone to know at this point.....EVEN Beavis and Butthead in this thread don't know.....although, their IQs are probably low enough to try to convince you otherwise.

My guess is that in addition to the mechanical fitting changes of the actual dash, that there might be some additional programming needed of the ECM within the vehicle, since they changed the temperature controls as well as some wiring changes in the dash for the control hook ups.

wow.. hold on guys I just check this and there's a lot of traffic here lol

Just a little background about my personal life.

first off this Jeep that I have not only will it be a lose to me to trade or sell it. I have ordered this Jeep from the factory back in July of 07 till Dec12th of that year to get it. the window sticker has my name on it. not only that, but I also have it in a frame in my garage.

I have an 01 Sahara that I bought new back then and still have it. that Jeep means much more to me to sell it and add parts to others. in fact if I had to keep one Wrangler ( which I own 3) I will keep that 01.

back to the point. I don't plan on doing this next week. probably wait for a loaner for that matter. but I just wanted to throw the thought out there and see what every one thinks. who did it before on the TJs/LJs and so on..

no way will I be selling my Jeep or any for that matter for a newer one. the only one that I have ever sold was my 07 2dr but I hated that thing and it was the biggest mistake I made in buying autos.

I have too much in my Jeep in custom work to not even think about a trade in

and to the other comments about why even consider this.. well, why not? isn't this ultimately why we mod our Jeeps?

Am I mistaken but didn't you just get a new Mango tango??? was that a 2010? swap that out for a 2011 and be done with it. It'll give you another project to build up instead of trying to transplant a new dash into an old vehicle.

Those are internet fightin' words Rednroll - lol!!! I hope you are not refering to me as part of "Beavis and Butthead" because if you are, you obviously didn't read my posts. All I was saying was I think it would be expensive and a waste of time being manufacturers always make changes/ improvements to newer models to keep us coming back and that tbe O.P. should enjoy what he has and when the time is right, he should just buy a newer model. I intentionally put "Sorry, just my .02 cents" at the end of my post to let people know I WASN'T knocking the O.P. The reason I pointed out (and also laughed) at the posts after mine where the poster asked for an IQ was because IMO I thought it was wrong and just down right rude. I never suggested I "know everything" so I don't know where you got that from either. Anyways, my point is, before you start the name calling and mocking, make sure you understand the posts because in the end, you're the one that looks like an a$$.

BTW - before there are any problems, I am joking with you when I say "Those are internet fightin' words" so please take it as a joke.
