Any news on this? Is today the day?

 

I've heard two discouraging bits of news today regarding yellow (yes it is still coming).

A friend of a friend is an egineer at the toldeo plant and he said Yellow is an 08 color and will be in dealerships in July... not May as I had expected.

Also I got this e-mail from my sales guy when I asked if Yellow was available today:
"Mark, I have received some Bad News! According to my Mopar Guy at Daimler Chrysler, the Detonator Yellow will be available on the 2008 Jeep Wrangler's. I also checked the availability to order through our dealer connect system. Detonator Yellow is not available to order but Rescue Green is still available. I haven't seen in additional info through Jeep Blog websites or Jeep .com."

So still, it's not solid official word, but it's enough to convince me that if I want my JK anytime soon, I need to order Rescue Green now. I really cannot wait any longer... I'm ordering Rescue Green tomorrow and I am excited!

Thanks for the info. That is discouraging - can anyone else confirm? Seems strange that they would discontinue greystone orders today but then wait until the 2008 orders to start yellow ordering. Why not allow greystone orders to continue for a bit longer? Maybe because any order made now will essentially morph into an 08 model???

 

Weird. The dealership I've been working with just told me that yellow will be available for order next month. He heard that from the horse's mouth. *scratching head*

 

Hey Karla, he might be right, but that could still mean it won't be in your hands until July. The old news was production will start in early May on the yellow but that doesn't mean they will be released from the factory right away. I don't want to sound too discouraging, but I just can't wait any longer.

I am really really hoping that production does start in May and that many of you waiting for Yellow get it in your hands by late May, which was what I was hoping for myself. I just can't handle the uncirtainty anymore!

People at my work are getting Wranglers now. In fact, my boss just bought one on an impulse two nights ago, and I've been waiting forever it seems. Two other guys have one on order already too. And I'm they guy who can't stop talking about them at work. It's driving some crazy, and it's driving others to the dealership! I will not be the last kid on the block with a JK!

I know exactly what you mean. When I ordered in August, I thought I'd be one of the first on the block with a JK - man was I wrong! I really wanted yellow when I originally ordered, so if it's available now that I'm ready to make my second order I'd like to try and get one in yellow. But, I am leary about ordering another JK that will be subject to delays and uncertainty, which it is starting to look like will be the case with yellow. I really wish someone could confirm an order date because I'm ready to place a second order now - but if I knew yellow orders will open up in a week or two and that they will be 07 models, then I would wait to order.

 

I tried to order Greystone yesterday from my dealer and DC had already taken it. I was told this was to make room for Yellow. I changed to Red Rock and placed the order today. Good Luck

 

Well, considering the fact that I don't have any say it what goes on with the Yellow, I can keep on waitin'! Yes...I want my JK now and seeing them on the road just twists that knife a little bit.

I've wanted a JK since I first saw them in November and can wait a while longer for the yellow. I want that color bad enough to wait!

The longer I hold off on getting the jeep actually benefits me as it gives me more time to save money and to pay down my current vehicle. Plus, I love my car enough to drive it until August if need be.

 

Family was voting: Rescue Green now or wait a few months for Yellow. My 6 year old daughter says "Why can't we get both?" Her: Me
Wife and I talk about it and come up with this: Buy the 4 door now in Rescue Green to replace the TJ, then in a year or so, replace the Durango with the 4 door and buy a 2 door in Yellow!
My wife felt the Rubicon was comfy enough to eventually replace the Durango, so we ordered it loaded: power, Auto, dual tops, etc. If this plan works out, I'll get the 2 door w/a stick, no power, etc.

Life is good, and it's getting better! :toung:

 

I stopped in the dealer this morning to check on ordering the d yellow and walked (or rode) out two hours later in my new JK. I got a 2D soft top X with S package, 17's, limited slip,side steps, Sirius, auto, and half doors. I love this thing already. It's like a go cart or something compared to what I'm used to. Ended up with steel blue and have no regrets on the yellow.
