I had a dude in a stock TJ give me the finger one time. I also had a guy in a jacked up CJ initiate a wave. Some people are dicks and some people aren't. Try to meet more JKers. We seem to be pretty awesome.

I had an '06 TJ. Now I have an '08 JK. I had a buddy with an '04 Rubicon who gave me crap all the time for having a Sport TJ. Once I lifed it and started doing work, I dominated his Rubicon. Sure enough the '06 was stolen, hence why ensurance helped me get the '08. My buddy was now really giving me shit for having a JK. I school his bullet proof Rubicon everytime on the trails.
