Will the 2 door survive.
In my own opinion I think the 2 door will eventually be phased out. You look at all the 4 doors out there. They out number 2 door's 10 -1 at least. You look at all the older people buying 4 door jeeps. Young families buying 4 door jeeps. Former Hummer owners buying 4 door jeeps. I go past the dealer all the time and only see 4 door jeeps. If there is a 2 door it is a special order. It will come down to 4 door family jeeps and that is it. There is a very small market for 2 door if any. When that time comes the 2 doors will be a classic forever.
maybe a canadian think but on this forum you see a lot of the newbies with 4 doors. It is maybe 3-1 4 to 2 door on this forum. Seems to be a downward spiral of 2 drs. It may come down to be a option in itself and when you order it's a 4 door and go from there. Option out to a 2 door.
Yea guess you never know what's going to happen. Personally I hope not. Love my 2 door and most of the places I drive a 4 door wouldn't go. Lots of trees and normally need a ATV to drive.....or a two door Jeep :-)
I think the fact that you can still purchase half doors bodes well for the 2-door Jeep's future.
I'm a 2-door guy myself, although I'd happily buy a LWB two door (I did buy a 2006 LJ Rubi).

The classic Jeep will always be a 2-door (or no door). That can't be replaced. Just like they can't get rid of fold down windshields, removable doors, softtops and soild axles. I always believed that the 4-door Jeeps, as well as the 4-door half ton pickups everybody seems to love now a days, are sacrilegious. IMO, they just ain't right.
BUT(!) with that being said, I bought a JKU. If it wasn't for the practicality of the Unlimited I would have ended up in some other uninspired SUV because of my growing family. I bet it's this that has put a lot of folks in new Jeeps over the past couple of years. The JKU has been a hit and filled a niche that the other manufactures didn't see coming. Well, maybe Hummer and Toyota did but their execution sucked.
I believe there's room for both the 2 and 4-door Jeeps in this world but the day they stop building the 2-doors is the day that the Jeep brand will die.

I think the 4-door has been huge for the Jeep brand, but there are still tons of 2-doors on the road. Look at cars like the Miata, BMW Z4, Honda S2000, and the 2-door wrangler is tenfold more useful of a vehicle.
I think the 4-door has made the Wrangler an extremely profitable vehicle and opened up its market base.

Different demographics, there's still plenty of 2drs running around town. It doesn't bode well that most people that would possibly buy a 2 door aren't making enough money to buy a new anything, let a lone a Wrangler.
