Good trails Eastern Ohio
I agree. I mean I have a trail literally a mile from my house, but it is a good majority of mud bogging due to 4-wheelers and mud trucks going through and tearing it apart, but it is a good place to snap a few poser pics of the JK.
Southington is only open the first full weekend each month. Has a good mix of all trail types and difficulties. Always a contingent of JK Freaks out there as well. I would stay away from Wellsville, myself. It's private land, that I believe is being sold to build a power plant. The local authorities have been notified to arrest anyone on sight for trespassing. There may be some areas that aren't marked, but that doesn't mean it's "legal". You're on your own out there. You get stuck, don't bother coming back for your rig, it'll likely be stripped and burned to the ground. LOL!
I'm pretty sure this is the same place. Plus, it's one of those places where the phrase "Hold my beer and watch this!" has probably been uttered more than once.
I'm all for finding interesting trails. I lean toward the more organized route. YMMV.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio -- After years of trespassers on private property that spans over two counties in Ohio, a law firm has sought help from the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office to keep ATV riders out for good.
ATV riders were surprised when they drove past the signs Thursday.
"I'm honestly in shock," said ATV rider Susan Brat. "I didn't think they'd ever do anything."
She couldn't help but take a picture of one of three signs now posted at the entrance to the Yellow Creek Grounds in Wellsville. Some people even stopped and read the sign, wondering what this could mean for the thousands who ride on the trail regularly.
"I'm just not allowed to be on them suddenly?" Brat asked.
The sign is a clear warning coming directly from the Columbiana County Sheriff, who says if officers catch people trespassing on the property, they will face criminal charges. That means everyone -- though Brat says the signs should be geared toward the thousands of out-of-towners who frequent the land.
"Little by little, more trails are made, fences are broke down," Brat said. "The beer bottles that everyone finds -- it's just outrageous. There are still people that just enjoy riding like it's a hobby, not just a drinking fest."
A law firm representing one of the landowners sent a letter out to the sheriff to keep ATV riders off of hundreds of acres of their. Officials from Planck Solutions - a company that owns part of that land -- became concerned when they were recently made aware that a large number of ATV riders were destroying the property.
Planck Trading Solutions is said to be in the process of building on top of its part of that property. Construction could begin as soon one year.

I much prefer the parking lots at the mall.

But just so I am clear, we all do what we want. We should all be cool with that. I like to explore as much as the next guy. I have more of a tendency to gravitate toward off road parks like Southington, Rausch Creek, AOAA, Bandlands, Redbird SRA or Jeep Jamborees that use public and private lands. Most of the time, you'll be with people who have been there before and can guide you on the tough spots.
To the OP: None of this is likely new revelations to you. It bears mentioning for the new folks that might come across this thread. I would hate to see a new Jeeper get hurt or worse, like damaging their Jeep
, by thinking "I can go anywhere, I have a Jeep" and it end up costing them a $48,000 tow bill.

Did some camping and dirtbiking down in Wellsville back in the 90s. Lol. Those days are over for me. Southington sounds like my cup of tea gentlemen. My Rubi is my daily driver also, but I have the itch to Jeep it. Took it on some trails up in Mercer. Private property, so kind of off limits, but I was with the landowner. We were impressed. Looking up more info about Southington online. Thanks for the heads up.
Next weekend (Nov 7/8) Southington is going to be open. I'm sure you'll find some like minded people to wheel with, Like Shutterbug said there's usually a decent JKFreaks presence as the JKForum crew has split and regrouped at JKFreaks.
I don't think we're going to make it due to work, but I have wheeled on no sleep before..
