Jeeps and Beach
Decided yesterday would be a good day for me to see how the JK does on the beach!! So me and a few buddys packed up and headed down to OBX!!! This would be the first time on the beach with my 10 JK Sport!! Jeep did amazing on the hard packed stuff BUT as soon as i went into the soft sand the jeep was struggling! Wheel hopping really bad in 4wh. Buddys were laughing at me lol. I know that the tires I have on it arent the greatest thing but it was kinda upsetting when a new Toyota Rav4 came flying pass me as I was being pulled out because i was stuck!! Im hoping the lift wheels and tires will help all this!!! The wheel hopping is really really BAD!!! Any ideas and suggestions on the next time out??
My old 06 F150 was flawless on the beach even before the lift and tires!!! I figured the jeep would be awesome on the beach seeing how its soo light!! Guess I was wrong

I had a similar experience in San Felipe two weekends ago. I have awesome 35" tires (not mudders, but Xtreme A/T), 5.13s, f/r ARB lockers, and was aired down to 25. I got stuck, once, because I think I was going too slow. Floor mats worked like a charm. I decided that from there on out, I would have to use much more speed to avoid getting stuck. Hard pack, soft pack, didn't matter - the Jeep was all over the place (though it was a bit better on the harder packed stuff). I didn't even bother trying to hit the mud.
I was embarrassed when I saw an F150 actually 1' deep in the water (which means in the infamous thick/sticky mud of San Felipe), literally just drive out from a dead stop!
All that aside, I'll never do it again. I came back with rust all over my brand new Hi Lift, wheels, axles, steering knuckles, exhaust, drive shafts, etc.
Avoid sea water!

F150 could go here, but I could not (I'm only standing in a few inches of water):

My tire tracks on the softer dirt. I was afraid of getting stuck:

The area in which I was driving in the sand. I got stuck in the darker stuff toward the center and had a hard time with the lighter-colored stuff ... had to get enough speed to fly up it! BTW this was the campsite too:

This was about as far as I could go without getting stuck. Yes those tire tracks are mine - I like my donuts in the morning haha:
