Oh I like the porters! Sad there were no pics with today's update. For us poor folks that have to stay home and work its our only connections to Easter Safari.

Thanks and miss the latest pictures...

It is a great group. Bill Burke and Chuck45 are among them. Sorry, I won't be able to get a new camera until I get home. I have a feeling there'll be plenty of picts posted next week though. I'm leaving tomorrow night, but plan to come back Sunday as a town tourist and maybe Thursday if I can to check out the vendors. PM me your email address as we should do some trails this summer. I was glad to help out a fellow JK'er with that locker sensor.

Behind The Rocks today. Holy sh!t! Now that's a trail. White Knuckle Hill, Hummer Hill High Dive, Up Chuck.... wow! If you don't have any skills when you start you'll sure have some if you make it back out. High Dive ate the other JK's Superior rear axle and Alloy USA front. I chickened out and took the bypass remembering I have 200 or so miles to go tomorrow morning. The weather was awesome. I finally got to take the top down. Pack plenty of sun screen and remember to put it on before you turn as red as I did today. What a trip. I hope you have as much fun next week as I did this one.
Keep the shiny side up,
Tom

You didn't checken out - you were smart! My wife is still pissed at me for trying it. However I can say I did get up High Dive in a 4 dr Wrangler on 35's. Even if it was on the end of my winch and cost me two CM axles! Oh well they were both waranteed. What fun!

No, I broke my drivers side rear Superior CM shaft and my drivers side front Alloy USA shaft. The good news is that the Rubi e-lockers held up as did the 5.13 gears (there has been some concern about pinion strength of gears above 4.88). And of course the CTM u-joints are as good as new. Both shafts are being replaced under warrantee. Superior told me I got the cherry on breaking one of their JK shafts as it hasn't been done before. Both shafts broke as cleanly as if you had them in a lathe with a parting tool! It's running with the stockers in now until UPS delivers the replacements.

I bent both of my rear stock rubi axles along the way, the worse bending happening on the waterfall on Green Day.

It always amuses me how others react to different trails. I did Pritchett Canyon, Behind The Rocks, up and down as much of BFE as we could on Green Day, and Hell's Revenge. The only one that scared me, and I do mean "scared", was Hells Revenge. The obstacle weren't terribly crazy or difficult but if it goes wrong, it could go Really Wrong. Maybe I shoulnt have watched any videos of roll overs on Hells Gate, Lionsback brake failure, near flippage on steep bumpy slick rock,...

You're absolutely spot on with that. I did Hell's Revenge the first day and thought it was a fun little warm up. Behind the Rocks was the last day and was plain scary. I'm thinkin' it has a lot to do with fatigue. Four or five days of long distance/time in the Jeep can tire you out.

Man, what a blast. Glad to see you've finally got a reason to upgrade the old axle shafts though. Are you thinkin' Superior, Alloy USA or...Longfields? The Longfields aren't that much more than the others.
