Default Tennessee's Pickett State Forest OHV Area

I went there in early November. It's probably 10K acres in northern - middle TN on the KY border, near Jamestown TN. On the other side of the border it's Daniel Boone National Park. The trails were easy and no big problem for stock vehicles. The attraction is the beauty. The overlooks into the Vally of The Three Forks were awesome and everyone should go to Pall Mall to take the "Alvin York Experience". Remember the old movie Sgt. York. Picket has and awesome camping area with a super nice bath house and picnic tables. They also have cabins that would be awesome in winter. The trails were all well traveled with occasional mud holes all with hard bottoms so great for stock vehicles. Maps of the place are poor so I took the Tennesse Topographic map book from Wall Mart, a compass and handheld GPS to find my way around. Great place to take the family of girlfriend on a first time trail ride and camping to find out if they are game for something difficult. This would be a really great place to wheel in the snow though.

Glad you found pickett. I went with a few buddies at the end of october. Here's a few shots I can share. Did you find the mineral pond?

I went there during the summer. Didn't have the jeep with me though. they do have a nice camping area. the hiking trails are pretty nice. When I went it was hot as hell. The swimming area was calling my name all weekend.

I went there a few years back on a quad trip. Its definitely a beautiful place with plenty of trails that are well kept. We had a blast on quads and even had a police escort back to the truck when we got lost in the dark and had to take 20 miles of roads back. I would absolutely go back but with the Jeep. As everyone has said the camp sites are very nice.

Thanks for posting links to the maps. I forget how many trails we've got here in TN and Pickett isn't a far drive.
