Is there a trail that goes from Teluride to Ouray?

Default Is there a trail that goes from Teluride to Ouray?

We're going to be in CO this summer for some Jeeping. We're staying in Ouray and plan to do black bear pass to Telluride. Seems like I read somewhere that there was a Jeep trail from Telluride back to Ouray. Can someone give me a name and a few details? Thanks.

The other trail is Imogine Pass.

Can you go from Telluride to Ouray on Imogene? How hard is it?

Ophir Pass - sort of qualifies also. It starts south of the Telluride ski resort and comes out on 550 south of Ouray.

Mike, I think that you can take Imogene both directions, but most people take Black Bear over and Imogene back since BB is one direction due to the narrowness. Could be wrong, but pretty sure that is right.

You're makin' me want to go back!

When I went up there, I made 1 page (front and back) trail maps for each pass using info from taildamage.com. Laminated each page for nice quick reference trail info. If you care, I've made the document on my Google drive shareable via this link -

LOL, I'm a little anal that way. My wife bought a little laminator years ago. I shook my head and said it was the dumbest thing ever. She used it once or twice. Guess who uses it all the time!

Thanks for the replies. Ophir pass looks like the way for us, i watched a YouTube video of it and that might be a good contrast after doing black bear. We live in flat OK and I have a sever fear of heights so a little easier trail back might be good for my nerves.

I can't speak to what was on the Telluride side as we couldn't pass completely over due to snow when I was there, but Imogene on the Ouray side was my favorite trail up there. It actually had a few rugged parts and a decent bit of water to go with the scenery.
