Toad and WOL's have pics of the event.
We were trying to climb a large shelf that tucked under. My 37" tire got caught on the passenger side and blew the ring gear by chopping off 6 teeth.
It took 4 hrs to pull the ring gear on the trail. we had to because it would lock up and the axle wouldn't turn.

It was a great trail fix by WOL and David (MBATE) and everyone who worked on it.
It was a good lesson on how to pull the ring gear and axles on the trail too.

On the way out because I had no ring gear to move the gear oil around in the diff and axles, I fried a axle. There was no other option to get out, so I had to do it.
Now I thinking of repairing the axle and selling it and buying a Dana 60.

The JK was repaired overnight and ready to go on Sat in the morning.
What great service!

So now your dilemma is "which D60 to get".

I don't envy you at this point, bc that's gonna cost you some major bucks.

But I envy those with 60's. Keep us posted.

My real dilemma is going to pay for it. But this is my weak piont at this time.
I'm thinking of the Currie or the Dynatrac 60 which is very pricey.
Have to see how things go.
Take care.

Default sheared sway bar link

me too... sheared sway bar link... 2nd time.... easy cheap fix.... I picked up a new link from moab 4x4... $10.00... the guys from superlift were there... and were kind enough to take a look at my set up.... turns out when I installed the lift last year- I fit everything and took it to an alignment shop to fine tune... they didn't adjust the front track bar... axle was slid to the passenger side by 3/4"... causing the link to hand up on the spring...

I originally thought my electronic disco had reengaged the sway bar... but since it was the 2nd time... this makes more sense.

Default 37"s?

No breakage.

Love the stability of running 37s on a 2.5" lift, but I'm thinking my rear lower control arm frame side brackets would have not taken such a beating with a 3.5" or 4" lift.

A little grinding, sanding, & paint, & all the rock rash will be un-noticable.
did you say 37"s on 2.5" lift? How's it work for ya? do they rub alot?

don't mind the road rash... just label the trail you earned it on.

A nice little indent on the rear gate when the spare tire caught as I dropped off of White Knuckle Hill.

Several new scrapes on the nice plastic stock rear bumper.

A few gouges in my KM2s.

-Not too bad compared to what happened to others on our trails. The JK performed and held up wonderfully!

I didn't break anything, but a Rubicon in our group had a weld break from the axle. The trail leader says he's heard/seen a few of them break off.

Not sure what is it called, but it is the brace that is welded to the front axle.

Replaced both R and L rear axle today at Screamin Lizard. OTD and ready to wheel again.

I think this is where I banged my Driver rear axle in BFE's Waterfall,.. But maybe a bit further down in the run when I REALLY laid it over sliding off a boulder and into another rock.

Thanks Y'all!
