I recently installed 35's with 373 gears. In Arizona I didn't mind as between 75-80 on the interstate I was at 2500 rpm. Now at 8200' in Colorado for the summer. Speed limit is 55-65 so for the next 3 months 5th gear is on vacation and the power sucks on climbs. I'll regear eventually but need to much other shit first.

Can anyone tell me if 315/70R17 can replace my current 33x12.50r17? I know its closer to a 35 but will my current rims fit the 70R?

From my research it calculates to 12.4 (315) 12.52 (318) 0.12 (3) a 1% difference. I just don't know how much one percent difference makes

If you are currently running a 12.5 wide 33, you can run a 12.5 wide 35. If you have enough physical space for the tire with your current suspension and fender setup.

Also, a 315/70r17 is a 35. They are virtually identical. If you look at tires that are available in both measurements, you will find that the differences in actual measurements are down to 1/10s of inches. Sometimes the metric is actually the larger tire. GoodYear MTR Ks are available in both 315/70r17 and 35x12.50 17: the 315 is 2/10 of an inch wider and 1/10 of an inch shorter. (These measurements come directly from GoodYear's website).

I appreciate that I have a set of 33s and 1 of them went bald due to a bad wheel bearing that wasn't replaced by the previous owner. I found the same tire with the metric measurements. I'd like to buy 3 of them and use the spare that's on the jeep and replace the spare with the best looking of the other 3 remaining good ones.

So if I wanted to maintain a 33-inch tire on the same rims (17x12.5) then what would the metric tire size be?

I'd imagine you meant a wheel that is 17x9?
