Default Need Advice: DIY Tire and Wheel Swap

In my driveway I have 5 unused stock 255/75r15 BFG Rubi tires and rims. The tires are on the rims. The bead has been broken and the TPMS stems have been removed.

On my JK I have 5 stock SRA tires on 5 more stock rims with factory TPMS stems.

Question: Does anyone think I can break the beads of the SRA tires myself and get the TPMS stems out, and then re-install the TPMS stems in the Rubi rims?

Seems like I should be able to jury-rig some kind of long lever and a block to pop the SRA beads, but I don't know anything about removing and re-mounting the TPMS stems.

I have a compressor and think I can tease the Rubi tire beads back onto the rims if I can get the TPMS stems moved over. Then I just need a balance job.

Thanks!

Last week we replaced a valve stem on the trail with a hi lift. Put the bottom plate of the hi lift just to the side of the stem. The tire was part way under the jeep, so when you jack up the jeep it uses that weight to break the bead.

It's tricky the first time but after it shouldn't be hard. Good luck.

Great idea about the jack. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me how the TPMS stems are mounted and how to move them over?

Updating my own thread here. I could break the bead and see the TPMS sender, but could not get a tool on it. Ended up taking all 10 wheels and tires to a shop. They dismounted one side of the tire and could reach inside to mount/dismount the senders. The senders all work and I have a fresh balance job on the tires so its all good.

Anybody need 4 SRAs (7000 miles) and 5 stock 17" rims? No TPMS.

I'm about to do the same thing, where did you take your wheels and tires? What did they charge, if you don't mind sharing?

Took them to Les Schwab. Good outfit for this kind of job. They charged me $110 with tax for 5 mount/dismounts and 5 balances. Moving the TPMS is included in the mount/dismount charge.

Never hear of Centramatics until now. Very interesting product. I like the idea.
