yes i am installing an audiovox 9275 keyless entry/remote starter and it has negative output triggers for locks. That relay setup allows any actuators to work with this unit.

Spent the WHOLE dam day putting my power locks in. They work like a charm, but I'm too tired to even revel in it. That has GOT to be the most time consuming install around! Sure hope they hold up well, cuz I don't EVER wanna' touch 'em again!!

James, I can't BELIEVE you got those inner panels off without knowing about the knockout plugs. Geesh, They're a total PITA even when you DO know about 'em! You must've used every four letter word in the book. Congrats to you and Yellowjeeper on your huge stubborn streaks!!

I left my frt dr panels off, just in case the power window kit shows up tomorrow. I've pretty much given up hope, but would at least like to get a chance to check it out a bit. YellowJeeper assured me they won't work on the back, but maybe the front will work out

ok- so I am going to tackle this job soon(ish!). I looked on ebay, and found a couple kits.
The first kit seems to have 4 of the same actuators.
The second has a master, and 3 slaves.

So, what's the point of the master actuator? Anyone used either of these kits? are they holding up?

If I want something local/quality/etc, where's the best place to call?

The only thing i can think of is maybe drivers door priority where you hit the button once and the drivers door locks/unlocks and again to pop the rest of them? Either way i wouldnt use it simply because thats prolly too many wires to fit through the door strap Go with the first one. Do you mean a local installation shop or a place for actuators? Do you have a Ziebart nearby I am sure they could help you out. Maybe harbor freight?

I used the ones in the 2nd link, with the master. Can't remember how many wires I actually had to hook up, but I'm thinking 3....there's plenty of room to string the wires....I added electric windows, and ran that wire thru' too. No problem. My locks are working fine....had to take one back apart to rebend one of the rods....it was hitting against the plastic rod keeper thingy, and finally unhooked itself I think the master will actually lock all the doors, if you lock that one...with the key. Haven't actually tried it, but pretty sure.

I'm comfortable with doing the installation... at least I am as of now!

one thing about those kits: is there a lock/unlock switch to mount inside, or just use the remotes only? I don't really care either way, just wondering...

The 5 wire actuator ("master") feeds back lock and unlock signals.
In other words, it's like many of the Japanese power locks in the '80s:
When you manually operate the lock by key or inside lever, the actuator moves with it and communicates the lock/unlock action back to the relays.
My kit had both front doors with masters. I made sure to use quick-connects coming out of the door catch (5 wires will fit through, by the way) so I could "change my mind" if I end up not liking it. So far, it has eliminated the need for a button.

Oh, and for anyone looking for a waterproof 6-pin connector, try Pepboys. It is cheaper than 4-pin, for some strange reason. Back in the trailering section. (Hopkins part # 47995.) They also had 2-pin connectors for the rear doors.

FYI: Ziebart quoted my $375 to install 3 actuators and the remote entry. Lifetime warranty on parts, 1 year labor. not bad was actually my first thought, for those with base X not wanting to DIY this job.

So let's see- for the downtime during Christmas break: install power locks, alarm system, heated seats, and maybe some LEDs for some accent lighting at the door handles and center stack. Sounds like fun! am I missing anything?

I see you are from detroit. What store did you get the quote from? Far as i know we only use audiovox units so it will be a top notch install for sure.
