Rebel,

If you are putting rubi axles in your rig, the only thing you will need is a 12V source to the axles with a toggle switch...

I did this mod about 2 weeks ago. Works like a champ. I didn`t use lighted switches so I didn`t need relays. I used a `safety` switch that needs to be turned on to allow the locker switches to work, just so that they can never be turned on by accident. Thanks for the idea and the cool write up.

Great writeup, I'm still debating the need or lack thereof for this mod with my Rubi, at this point I just don't have a use for locking the rear much less front in 4hi or 4hi 2wd, either way I'm just not needing it but I had this mod (similar) on my 06 Rubi and used it a little in the mud and in the sand dunes, yet I am able to do just as well in 4L as I did with 4HI.

just thinking outloud here...and I still like the rocker panel and FULL control of locking whatever whenever I damn well please ...must think more....

Hey guys,

I was going to do this locker mod last Friday, but was a little disappointed in the length of those ground wires. I can see why people used those little clip on taps. I prefer soldering + shrink-wrap, and have avoided those clip on taps in the past. Has anyone traced those purple wires up the harness to somewhere more convenient?

In case I don't have any other option, are there better quality taps then others? All the ones I've seen are pretty crappy.

Thanks,
js.

back from the dead

so i am lazy, too lazy to read all the pages to find my answer to this question.

After this mod, do the locker lights on the dash work properly? or do they flash?

if they work properly i will go with regular rocker switch, if they flash i am going with illuminated switches.

thanks

For the front locker tap the yellow with orange stripe wire. Located at #4.
