Default Bugs on windshield

I have noticed the jeep gets a lot more splattered bugs on the windshield than my other vehicles. With the top and doors off it is not as easy to wash it and since going by a gas station to wash windows every time I get too many bugs on the windshield is not always easy I gave it some thought. What I came up with is a $.50 bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a $.69 spray bottle from the local discount store. All I did was spray down the windshield and let it work a little bit then I washed the windshield using the wipers and wash. It did not get off all of the spots but it did a whole lot better than the wipers and wash solution was doing alone. I can carry it with me and figure it saves me going by the gas station every other day just to I can use the window washer. Now all I will have to do is scrub the windshield good about once a week or maybe even less often.
Sorry I don't have pictures but the nect time my windshield gets coated with bug art I will be sure to take some before and after.

Nice.

Wondering if adding a bottle of the peroxide when filling the washer bottle might help as well.

Would this have any impact to paint or the soft top fabric from overspray of washer fluid?

It will not hurt the paint. It also should not hurth the top as it is not very strong. I am using mine because I don't have a top on and needed something to get them off between washes. As far as putting it in the resivour that I don't think would be good as the solution of peroxide is not that strong as it is and diluting it would make it weaker. Also once you pour it out into another container or on something it actually bubbles if it hits any impurities you also need to watch sunlight thus the brown bottle it comes in. BTW ladies (and guys) if you want to lighten your hair you can spray it down with the same stuff while riding topless I do it all the time to my head and beard in the fall getting ready to play Santa so I don;t need to bleach the hair so much.

How did you come about using hydrogen peroxide as bug remover?

The detail dept where I work use FINE steel wool and glass cleaner to clean the windshields. I started doing it myself when I wash my cars. Works awesome and does not scratch the glass. Do not contaminate any of your rags with the sttel wool though or you'll regret it. Just simply rinse reaaly good afterwords.

I went through some realy bad bugs and the gas stations in the area I was at did not have the scrubbers for the washer stations (stolen) so I was looking for one in the local Big Lots (discount store) they did not have one and the thought hit me try hydrogen peroxide. It works to clean anything organic and turns into water so it can't hurt. I have these brain farts frequently sometimes they turn into natural gas and others swamp gas.

I dunno. I am concerned about the long term effects of it on things like the softtop and the rubber seal between the window frame and the soft/hardtop.

It is a weak acid. Everything is acid or base basically - just a matter of degree, so that really doesnt bother me as much as the fact that it is a reasonably strong bleaching agent (ask any nonoriginal blond)

I have had a buttload of chemistry, but i honestly dont know what the effects would be on the sailcloth/dye and the rubber seals.

Does anyone have any idea?

My guess is that the over a long period of time, it will weaken the fabric, lighten the platic mirrors (the dark side) and also weaken the seals.

And how the hell do you get a buttload of chemistry.
