I replaced a clockspring with a Crown unit. Pretty sure it was only around $130 or so, and took maybe an hour to do at home. There's YouTube vids for it. Hardest part is just getting the steering wheel of the splines.

Unless you've replaced the clockspring before, there is a recall for the 2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler for the clock spring.

To that point jedg, Chrysler replaced mine after I had replaced it myself. I guess I used an older part and they didn't want that. They replaced it under warranty but also paid me for the bad part I installed. Hopefully there aren't any older clocksprings still floating around out there for sale.

hrm... I would still check with the dealer. It may have a warranty. Worth asking anyway.

gonna try that as I found this on their website under frequently asked questions:

Once the recall is completed, what is the warranty on the repair if the recalled component fails again? If there is a subsequent failure, we will review the situation and if, in fact, it is for the same condition as the recall, FCA US will repair the vehicle for free.

I'd reiterate post #61 above.

any issues since you replaced it? I've seen the parts (way less than the dealer is quoting)

Zero issues at all. It's definitely a job to just DIY and save the money.
