I don't have the heat reduction hood. I think it's hideous. I have the stock hood and cut into it. It's sooooooo easy. The snorkel kit comes with a template. It's also comes with a guard type thing that you rivet around the cut so you dont see the cut. I love my snorkel. I always get comments about it. But again, ZERO power gains. I did notice less crap in my air filter.

 

sounds awesome im thinking about this, couple things to worry about though first does cutting into the hood ruin the warranty? and second with the hood start to rust around when you cut?

I brushed on some primer around the cut. With the guard you don't see the cut or primer. Over a year later no rust. I've had my jeep in for other warranty stuff and they have never said anything. I've even had an engine replacement. Now if I had a claim about my hood they might not cover it.
