That's the dog's expression for "you said we were going for a ride and instead you are just standing outside telling me to Stay. Jerk."

I should have taken the picture WHILE we were going for a ride. Clearly a different expression.

I've been out in hard driving rain. It does a pretty good job of keeping the back dry as long as I'm moving. Didn't expect that - bonus!

Don't know how the wife part got into this, but she's been bit pretty good by the Jeep bug. Likes to get out a lot, just doesn't like the degree of rock crawling I do. She's bought Jeep t-shirts, Jeep jewelery, and other Jeep paraphernalia for herself. On the scale of 1-10 (1=graded gravel road, 10=must winch), she's good up to about 6 (rough, narrow, a few rocks and boulders). Back Road to Crown King is a good example:

Since I didn't take too many pictures, here are some others of that same run:

What she WON'T do (Martinez Mine Trail, Highway to Hell):

So, yeah - she pretty much gets the Jeep thing!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the write up! Works great!

Not as pretty as yours, I suck horribly at sewing, had to superglue all of my seams when done, they all started coming undone holding up well though. Used green fabric from walmart, it matches perfectly the Jeep Green exterior. Thanks again!

Default Rampage Product review

So when I saw this write-up I thought it was exactly what I wanted, went out and bought the mesh tarp, but after 4 months I hadn't started the project, so I broke down and bought the Rampage Combo safari top in Mesh. It needs a windshield channel. No instructions were included had to go to quadratec. It fit very loose in spots, so I don't know if I just did not install it correctly or there is no way to make it tighter, might work better with door surrounds. Anyway, I like the product and price, but think that if you have the time and skilz then follow this write-up for an excellent alternative. I may still use the tarp I bought for a wind break or extra sun protection, as my toddlers are fair skinned and I don't know about the UV resistance the rampage provides, the tarp seems like a tighter weave.
One question I did have for those that have done this is, how do you deal with the rain, we are now getting afternoon showers and I was wondering if there was a way to attach a tarp to the top of my 4dr similar to the old CJs (2dr) or if there was a better product out there or just go spend the money for a soft top.

Thanks for the good write-up, it is one of my favorites.

What is everyone using for the edging? I was going to just wrap the screen over and crimp together with the grommets...
