I also did this, i used the factory bolt due to the nice large head on the bold wich i like, should last much longer, all i did was drill the hole in the bolt and use a washer and hitch pin, and if you ever want you can still put the nut back on.

Can you post a picture and how do you like it using the factory bolt?

I just put 1/2" bolts back in mine to replace the pins and the undersized factory bolts. I got tired of hearing it clunk and clank over rough roads and was worried about the hole in the bracket on the axle wearing since the pin isn't tight.

I did this mod 2 years ago and its still holding strong. I used a half inch clevis not 7/16. To do this you will need to remove the links and drill the holes also to 1/2 on a drill press . This will eliminate all slop which causes wear and rattles.

I've had this set-up going for a couple months now and is it weird that I kinda like the clanky, clinky noise? lol, I will, however, add a washer or two on each pin to tighten it up a bit. I haven't noticed any wear or anything. I also haven't needed to disconnect yet so read up on where the sway bar and links need to be when DC'd. confusing somewhat but I get the jist of it.

Just my two cents. I disco'd just my driver side one night at my buddies with my 2012 and the sway bar got into the tie rod. It caught on the punch clamp and locked my steering. I don't know if its just a 12 thing or just a me thing I just wanted to throw out there that if you disco only the driver side to test it at full droop on the pass tire before heading off on an adventure. Will be doing a version of this mod soon.
