OK, first jeep i've owned, so bear with me.

why do you want the sway bar disconnected? what exactly does it do?

EDIT: did some research, i assume that the disconnect of the sway bar is more for off road use, keeping better traction on the lower wheel while keeping body more level?

is that correct?

Disconnecting the sway bar allows the wheels to articulate more fully. It seriously smooths the ride off-road, gives better feel, and just generally overall improves off-road performance.
Of course, on road it provides much-needed stability, and as plenty have said here, it would be dicey riding the highways without it connected.

Has anyone with the DIY disco noticed their front end feels "sloppy" with the hitch pins in place? I just removed mine and put the stock bolts back in and my ride feels a bit more stable.

Anyone else notice this?

I've noticed it as well. I'm living with it for now.

But curious...does anyone know if the Teraflex pins are the same diameter as the stock bolts for the bottom link connection?
If so, a set of those pins would seem to do the trick nicely, and for less than the entire new set of links.

I suspect that any slop in the link is the absence of clamping pressure (tightening of a bolt) at the pin.

Can anyone post photos of the JKS or Teraflex links?

I guess some DIY's just aren't quite as tight as the "manufactured" solutions.
Back to the drawing board...
