Thanks Brent. No need to measure, that photo gives me a good enough reference to work from.

And by the way, that is a fantastic photo and awesome setup.

how exactly did you get it to mount if there isn't a lip on the bottom of the ammo can? I finally installed my OR Fab tire carrier, and have so far liked the sturdiness. It's not as difficult to install if you have a variety of tools, like a Snap-on electric screwdriver.

I wonder if you could get Or-Fab to make one with a plate at the bottom instead of just those two little lips. I think it would be useful for other items as well. Maybe just another couple of bars to make the bottom caged or something. Then you could stuff other things in there without it falling through the bottom.

I'd just like a bracket to use the ORO lite plate and license plate relocation on the carrier.

I cut a small slit in the bottom of the ammo can so the the L shaped lip on the carrier would slide into the slit. Then I primed and painted the bottom of the can to prevent rust. Dont really care if it is water proof since I just store dog stuff in there and use zip loc bags for perishables. I have not had any water get in there yet....guess it would have to be a pretty deep crossing to come up the the bottom of the can.

Why wait for ORF to do it...just take it by to someone who can weld and have them put on 2 bars. I would not make it a solid shelf though....would hold too much mud and snow that way but a metal grate of some sort would be cool!!

I just installed my OR-Fab tire/can carrier.

Thanks Brent_f70 for this write-up. It was very useful during the work.

Saludos

Do you have to grind out the hole and make it larger to fit a larger diameter bolt, or just to fit the boxed end wrench? Can't you just use an open end wrench?

Is the grinded part hidden by the stock cover once finished?

excellent write up. It actually makes me a little less nervous about doing an install with drilling into the body. Great job.

Got mine mounted on Tuesday. I bet you could do it yourself, but lining up the bolts and washers is pretty difficult. I also modified my old CHMSL to mount to the arm. Took longer to pull the wiring back out of the tailgate than it did to fab it up.

However, I do have one beef. For $550, I don't think it should already have rust on it by Thursday. The landing block is taking the textured coating off of the arm, and it is already rusting. Anyone else have this problem or have a solution?
