OR-Fab tire carrier install
I will say that the hardware impressed me yesterday.
So while I have been working on the rust issue, I though maybe I would loosen the assembly that holds it to the landing block to see if maybe it wouldn't pull so hard and take all the powdercoating off the arm. BAD IDEA.
If it isn't tight, then bumps will make it open. I saw it once at a low speed, and was able to close it again without issue. However, later in the evening, I noticed it was hanging wide open after going over a railroad track. I slowed down, but when I turned off the road, it of course swung shut and slammed with considerable force. I got out expecting the worst. However, not one bit of damage was noticed. No more paint was missing from the block or arm than was already off from opening it and closing it normally. There were NO dents in the sheetmetal around the landing block or on the tailgate. I simply loosened the jam nut, made sure it closed tight, and reclosed the assembly. Haven't had a problem since (and didn't before I started messing with it).

I have not had mine loosen. But thought a clip or lock in the latch would be a good safety. My locking bar was missing also. I made one from stock I had. It helps alot in holding the spare in place while turning the "T" handle.
I bought mine from 4WheelParts but have heard that local tractor supply stores also carry them... Where I am at in Cali there aren't too many tractor supply stores though. Good luck!!!
For those having issues with the bumps releasing the latch buy a linch pin ( Ace Hardware) it will keep it latched shut and will not pop out on bumpy terrain...

i just got mine on yesterday.. well i got it back from the shop that put it on... i like it alot. gotta figure out a way to get my third brake light back on but thats not a big deal. my only gripe is it seems that my tailgate wont open as far now but that isnt a big deal really.
looks like a nice tire carrier... but is thier some other way to attach the tire without having that bar across the spare ? i dont really like having the bar their.. is their any other way to attach the spare?
