Gutter guard on sale, friend from local phone service hooked me up with ties and tie blocks. Had Gorilla glue from fixing a table. 2 1/2 hours (not including Gorilla glue wait time) Cost: $2.39 + tax.

The thing that took the longest: Getting the sticky stuff off the back of the tie blocks.

Looks great. I know, I know. Pics. But I haven't figured it out yet. Looks just like one of the posts early on in this thread.

Is it necessary to take the sticky stuff off the backs of the tie blocks? I have all the materials to get started on mine; but I hadn't planned on taking the sticky stuff off when I epoxy/gorilla glue them down.

I took them off b/c I read here that eventually those pads fall off. I soaked mine in alcohol overnight and just peeled them off the next day. Then gorilla glued plastic to plastic.

I recommend plastic to plastic but put a drop on the stick part then I put the glue around the edges of the blocks. Hope it holds.

If you epoxy up around the tie down, you may not need to take the foam off of the back.

Personally, I would spend the 10 min taking them off. It's a whole lot easier to remove it from the start and know that you have a good bond than to have some of them pop off a week down the road and start over.

Just got done with my grill mod. Thanks for great instructions. Took me a couple of hours and one of the easiest mods I've done. Got the aluminum sheet from Lowes, JB weld, zip tie blocks, and zip ties.
