After 2 attempts of this I found an adhesive that works....plastic weld from Autozone. I scuffed the inside with sandpaper, used rubbing alcohol and let it dry. While letting it dry I just rolled off the sticky white stuff with my thumbs. Used the black gutterguard and zip ties and so far 3 weeks and it's held up through rain, snow and pressure washing.

As for screening, I used the gutter screening you use to keep leaves out.

Wow, guys! Thanks for this great idea! I decided to go with the aluminum gutter guard from Lowe's while I had the grill off for the marker light flasher mad.
It was a bit time consuming trimming the aluminum and then feeding the cable ties through the cable tie holders and the aluminum down each row of the grill, but I'm definitely happy with the results!

Was doing my grill mod today in orange (have a black 2dr) and came up with this for my taillights. Anybody see any legal issues with it? Can't see how it's worse then smoking them

Just did mine last weekend. I have the mod bug thanks to y'all! Total cost 30$ but cutting the separate pieces was a bit time consuming and I recommend investing in tin snips if you do it that way. Took about 6 hours taking my time but I put on several layers of paint and removed the crappy backing off of the zip tie anchors and mounted them with gorilla glue. Looks pretty enough for me. Thanks for the write up!

I did mine yesterday. Used a one-piece "pet grille".

I changed my mind and removed the Pet Grille and used YardGuard Hardware Cloth in plastic from Home Depot instead. 1/2" mesh squares. Can be installed either with the squares vertical/horizontal, or on a diagonal. I installed it as a diagonal pattern. I think the diagonal looks a little more "factory like".
