Thanks for the write up! I bought an aluminum "Screen door protector" from lowes for $20, some black spray paint for $6, and the aluminum pieces that you recommended, here is my result;

Looks good. Nice job!

I was looking for available materials at Lowes and all I found was the gutter mesh. I'll have to look again around the screen doors to see if they have this.
