You must be kidding when you say an increase of 15 mpg. I was thinking more like 30 mpg at a minimum. Doubt your top speed will change.

It's designed to let heat out not take air in like a hood scoop. Back in the day louvers were used for everything from classic cars, muscle cars and off road vehicles.

Looks great on that black JK, and I think it may look good on a white JK maybe painted flat black to match the fenders, rock rails, etc.

Was it scary to cut holes in your hood? How much difference does it make?

Nice mod and GREAT writeup! I'll probably look at something like these. Maybe put them further forward to suck out radiator heat...hmmmm...

It is funny how some Jeeps get that underhood insulation and some don't, mine dosn't.
Yea, mine doesn't have that insulation either; which is good for me, because here in Texas it gets mighty hot....23 days in a row of over a 100 degrees...and it's not dry heat like you folks in the more southwest.

I think I will do this MOD or one like it; better than paying for a new hood.

I like it but it looks small compare to the size of the hood.

Anybody understand why some have some don't? Mine doesn't, and it sure feels like it needs it. The hood gets too hot to touch with moderate driving. Paint problems in the works?
