When you push them back up, how do they lock? Also, how do you unlock them to push them back down again?

To fold the seat, you do it just as before. Pull the lever or strap, fold forward and headrest will unlock and fold down as it reaches the seat. When you put it up the seat will lock up with the headrest folded down. Grab the headrest and pull up until it locks. The only purpose the springs serve is to fold the headrest up for you as a convenience thing.

^^^^^ what he said. I'm not sure what specific piece locks it upright when pushed up, but it does lock up. To unlock, fold the seats down, and they unlock like they always did.

Did this tonight. Spring placement was a little different in my 2007 but it all worked out. Now my daughter's booster can recline a bit more and she can be more comfortable.

For those of you asking the who, what, when, where of this mod. Here are your answers. I didn't write this, credit goes to Silversport on Wrangler forum.

Here it is.

As you know, when you pull the loop on either seat you can fold it forward and down. The loop is attached to a cable mechanism that unlatches the seat. As you fold the seat down, a second cable pulls on the headrest retainer and releases it.*The sole purpose of the headrest springs is to make the headrest pop back up when the seat is raised. So even if you unhook the springs, the headrest stays upright until you lower the seat. Then it can be folded back. Once the seat is raised and latched, if the headrest is raised to the full upright position, it will latch and stay there.Perhaps the pic will give you an idea of whats inside the seat.

Item 9 is the right side seat release cable.Item 10 is the left side seat release cable.Item 20 is used twice and is the headrest release cable.
Item 11 is the headrest retractor.

Hope this helps people understand the mod. I'll update the original post with this also. But as I said, the credit for this portion doesn't go to me.
