Default Line X prep for JKU and more

Finally purchased my first Wrangler in 2011 (2012 JKU Dozer Sport) and have been enjoying it!
I've been toying with the idea of scrapping the carpets, we use it for everything and we have two dogs slobbering up the back too... so after almost two years I decided to remove the carpets after they were soaked a couple times this summer. I looked into several options and below are my thoughts on each.

No Carpets - cheapest option but in my opinion, looks crappy
Bedtread or Bedrug - About the same cost as Line X, but I was concerned about water and dirt making its way under and causing a problem
Monstaliner - 2nd cheapest option, but I was concerned with the longevity and durability. It is NOT the same product as Line X, Monstaliner is a cold applied product that must dry whereas Line X is a heat applied product that dries in minutes.
Line X - Most expensive option, but I plan on having the bus for a long time so I think it will be money well spent.

I talked with the local Line X shop and decided to do most of the prep work myself to save $$. I decided to try and do a detailed write-up because I have not found a lot of information on the prep for a JKU and hope it helps anyone interested in doing something similar. I will post pictures and details as I progress. This is basically my first real mod, so wish me luck!

The line x is a waist of money because the hardest part of this is pretty much gutting the interior which isn't too hard.

I gutted my interior in a couple hours, scrapped the sound defending goop up in 2 hours and started sanding and scotch-Brighting all the same night.

After that just clean the surface with acetone or mineral spirits and for the "liner" I used upol raptor liner which is sprayed on and comes in a kit
(took around 1.5 hours) because you have to wait 40 minutes in between coats. Once I finished the spraying I let the raptor liner dry for 24 hours.

Literally the easiest part of this project was spraying it on I have 0 painting experience besides using a rattle can.

Put all you interior back in the next day and you will be much more satisfied that you did it your self, and you are also saving a lot of money that you could do some serious mods on your jeep, I was quoted $950 for the line x dealer to spray it (if i stripped it). My total cost is $190 all in
(spray liner kit,masking/prep materials)

Either way you go you are going to love the bed lined interior.

Hers a few pic of the finished product and sum of the prep. That goop crap was the hardest part for me but a heat gun and stiff putty knife help allot

Yep that goop stuff was the hardest but once I figured out a really good trick
(use a large blow torch and a sharp sturdy scraper) the pieces started coming up by the 2-3 inches at a time.
This tread helped me tremendously if you do it yourself

What do you do with the carpeted covered storage spot. I want to do this but still want that spot covered so my things are out of sight.

I hit it with a heat gun and melted down the carpet and it got to look like the same texture as the bed line.
