Did this mod with a 2 c cell ml100 led light. Every time I use the light after its been in the mount it automatically goes into strobe mode. I don't know if its a result of the cold weather here (40's), or some kind of interference. Anyone have any ideas?

I liked this mod so much, I did it to my F250... I got the 2D LED and it's way brighter than my 4D.

Default 2012 Seat Maglite Mount Installed

I installed the mount on my 2012 tumble front seat. I removed the panel which I mine had a hexagon mesh on the back as support for the panel. After drilling my mounting holes through the panel where I wanted them I dremeled out just a little of the hexagon support mesh on the back to put in some thick washers and nuts for all 4 holes. I was worried about the panel not supporting me pulling the light on and off without the mount being drilled right into the frame like you guys did for your 07-10 models. This little bit of extra work gave the support needed to mount it to the panel. I can remove and replace my 3d real easy without any stress on the panel. Thanks for the idea. I love having my mag so handy now! Here is a pic of it installed -

Does this work on the 2012 seat?

I see a few posts above that he had to make a plate out of aluminum... if its not an easy instal I'll just get a smaller LED flashlight. I liked this idea cuz I just got a new 4D maglite.

Its pretty easy. Just grab a socket and pull the panel off your seat so you can see what it looks like. I just added screws/washers/nuts, the largest that would fit through the predrilled holes on the maglite mounts. Then I measured and drilled the mounting holes into the panel. Then I test fitted the screws/washers/nuts, during the test fit you can see where the washers/nuts will be compressed against the hexagonal support on the back of the 2012 panel. I dremeled off a tiny amount for the large washers to compress down into the panel nice and tight. Its a strong hold and once bolted back up to the seat doesn't flex at all when I pull off or snap in my 3d mag. Hope this helps!

Well I guess it helps to look at my Jeep seat cuz I dont have the side panel, maybe thats because I have an unlimited? Not sure if the 2 doors have that trim and 4 doors dont but mine sure doesnt... I guess in that sense i can just install the mounts just like the others directly to the seat frame...

I'm waiting on my mounts to be delivered so I'll know for sure once they get here if they will mount up
