Awesome job, does any one now how sturdy those clips are. Do you think the might hold a shovel on the back seat I'm tired of having my track shovel laying in the back not secured.

The clips are solid and as long as you mount it to a solid surface it shouldn't move at all. If the diameter of the handle is the same as the mag lite it would be perfect. You could also check out quick fists I believe they are called which alot of guys are using to mount shovels, axes, etc to the inside of the back gate.

Recently did the Maglite Mount. This is great inexpensive mod. Make sure you use good drill bits and the self-taping bolts.

I have had my maglite clips in for 7 months and I managed to break one lastnight while trying to put the flashlight back in it in the dark.

Default won't work on my 2012

I thnk this is a cool mod and I had some of these brackets lying around, so I was going to give it a try yesterday. I took off all the plastic side crap so I could see the seat frame, and there is not enought meat on the seat to mount the brackets to. If you adjust the seat height all the way up, there is just enough, but if you ever jacked the seat back down, the seat would make contact with the brackets. So on the 2012 it won't work as easy as the original photo posted. You could mount it directly to the plastic side covers, but those clips hold onto the flashlight pretty good and I think, overtime, mounting it to plastic is not a good idea.

So I got thinking how I could do this and I think if I fashion a bracket that bolts to the underside of the seat rail, and comes out the side, I could have a pretty cool mount location. Also the bracket that I'm thinking of making would allow you to pull the flashlight off the clips straight up, or at at 45°. Mounting it directly to the seat as in the original post, you have to pull it out straight from the side.

I'll keep you posted on how my new bracket goes, and maybe post some pics
