Yeah i understand that you took the tires off the jeep but did u cover up the lug holes on the wheels before spraying? A lot of people say that if u dont cover the holes, that when u tighten the lugs it makes the plasti dip peel. Im gonna plasti dip my wheels today so im just trying to make sure asap. Thanks for your help
Hey I haven't read any of this thread so I don;t know if any of this has been covered, but it seemed like the right place to make a note.. Yesterday I peeled the plasti dip off my grill to recoat it for the winter. It's been about 9 months that I've had it on. There were 2 small holes in the plasti dip that I can only assume were from rock chips. All in all, it was in excellent shape for being on the front lines on Jersey highways.
So peeling it off was not bad. The paint underneath was perfect. I sprayed it only a few weeks after I took it home from the dealer and the paint still looked that good. Here's what's worth mentioning: If you're going to plasti dip, especially with the intentions of peeling it off, lay down THICK COATS. In the places where it was thinner, it was much tougher to peel off. A lot of rubbing was involved. Where it was thicker, it just peeled off in one big sheet. I was a little concerned when I put it on that thicker coats might somehow be more prone to accidentally peeling, but that was not the case. So use an extra can or two. Get it thick in all the corners and tough to reach places. This stuff is no joke, it's like a rubber shell of awesome.

Thanks for everyones tips! I plasti dipped my wheels and they turned out great! I did 5 coats, and used nickels to cover up the lugnut holes while i sprayed them. Not sure how people had problem getting the overspray off the tires if u didn't mask them, i sprayed all over the tires on all 5 coats and it peeled off perfectly once it dried For about 30 mins! Very easy to use.
