I did mine with the wheels on. Just stuff newspaper behind the wheel to protect the brakes.

Nailed it!

But seriously though, I guess plasti dipping isn't idiot proof. I did my spare tire yesterday and the texture feels like sand paper and it looks like crap in the sun. It was pretty cloudy when I took the picture above. I used about 1/2 - 3/4 can, 5 coats, 15 minutes between each. Not sure what I did wrong, but I'm going to peel it and try again.

Here's another shot for you. 2 months and holding up great, but I haven't wheeled at all. I did touch up the lugs when I rotated the tires and they look good still too.

2 of the 4 are real doing like yours. I wasn't going to do them over. So I left them. No one notices

Here's a better picture in the sunlight. It looks like crap. Again, not sure what I did wrong. Any advice?

Anyway, the only good thing so far was taking it off was a snap. It took about 1 minute and it came off almost entirely in one piece.

Ok so I just stumbled upon this thread...

What is this stuff exactly? Its spray paint but it peels off? How do you do a shape on your hood and it doesn't just peel off then? Do you need to really want to take it off to make it peel?

Does it scratch easy?

Well, I finally made it thru the whole thread! I was going to use bedliner on the hood and hinges, but may go the dip route instead. I like the bedliner much better for wheels though. A good tip for that, instead of nickels or quarters, I've used beer bottle caps in the past. Works great, and they always seem to be in large supply with me! I'll be picking a couple cans up this morning with the other project supplies I need... Side marker mod, tailgate storage, and blackout lights this week.
