Plasti-dip vs Rustoleum
PLASTI-DIP
I wouldn't use plasti-dip in my tub. It's just way too much work to spray it and I think it would end up peeling off the first time you put something really heavy in the back. The cool thing with plasti-dip is that you can remove it if you don't like it. You don't have to sand down, or prime before you spray. I would with gloves on to prevent hand oils, use rubbing alcohol(isopropyl alcohol), acetone, or mineral spirits to clean the surface. Mineral spirits leaves a bit of residue. For the most part mineral spirits are good enough and better than nothing.
I did my grill with 2-1/2 cans. That was about 3 coats. It had a different shine in places, possibly from my spray technique, so I ripped it off. The parts that didn't get a solid 3 coats were hell to get off. The rest pealed off really nice without leaving any residue. If your going to use it make sure you put a few extra coats on.
PREP
Everything else you need more prep to the surface before you spray. That and masking by far take the most time.
SPRAY CAN LINER
There's basically rustolum and duplicolor to choose from in the US. What I have read rustolum is a finer texture vs duplicolor. I found a post by Croce who did his tub with a rattle can (I'm not sure what type it is) LINK-->https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...0/#post3121171 .
ROLL-ON
If you don't have a compressor I think Monstaliner is your best option. Herculiner I personally would stay away from. It has great grip but is also very rough. It isn't UV safe so it fades. Anything rolled seems to be more challenging to get looking even and sprayed.
SPRAY WITH AN AIR COMPRESSOR
This is what I did. I have a link about it here LINK-->https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-s...hreads-238739/
It cost $200 with supplies and good chunk of time sanding and masking

If its going to rain I will throw the windows in the back, but don't much need to worry about it.

Good Luck with what ever you choose

- Wash surface good. Break cleaner works good for any hard to clean areas
- Sand 150-320 grit sand paper.Getting the sand paper wet can help
- Wash/ wip clean
- Degreese with gloves on useing rubbing alcohol(isopropyl alcohol), acetone, or mineral spirits
- Any areas that are bare metal need self-etching primer. Plastic parts should get some plastic primer.

I plasti-dipped my wheels last weekend and turned out great. Was the first time I used the product and was very easy. The next day however I got blasted by a salt truck and put two small chips in the plasti-dip so need to touch-up. Would have done the same damage to a painted wheel but I am assuming the touch-up of the plasti-dip will be easier than paint would be.
