Yesterday I got to thinking about the parts I have left over:

I'm stewing up an idea that will allow me to use those brackets, after adding a little more hardware, to mount an axe and shovel to the inside of the tailgate. If anyone has any thoughts, particularly about where to put bolts/threaded stock/etc that is strong yet accessible from outside the tailgate, let me know.

Hey, thanks for answering my PM!

Have you gone anywhere with the idea you posted above yet?

Not yet. I have the parts laid out on my workbench and I'm seeing what ingenious ideas sprout forth. And, I was up in Stillwater today helping Torn and RescueX install a BL on RescueX's JK. I'll post it in this thread when something finally does gel.

Bought it from Bob Supplee? Haven't heard that name in a few years. He's huge in the TJ crowd; I bought about 99% of my parts from him for my TJ back in '02. Great guy to work with.

ITs a really nice kit. the poter coating holds up really well. I have had mine on since march and takin it on a couple of beach trips. I dont need a high lift because Im not going to lift this jeep so I have the old shovel ax combo up on mine.

Excellent write up Mark. Very clear, and well illustrated with your photos. And it looks real good on your Jeep.

The only problem I have is I can already imagine the holes I would have in my hood, the first time I dropped that Hi Lift on it. Trail damage I can live with, that's earned. Me, being a klod, would annoy the heck out of me.

Excellent info, been looking at this mount for a set of lights for those dreary winter months..want to see those deer lurking on the side of the road, this makes it look easy to do. thanks!!!
