This storage idea looks great.... I keep coming back to this thread thinking "Naw, I don't need to build it, i'm fine with out it." then I see the pictures and change my mind all over again.

I'm either never opening this thread again, or posting some copy cat photos pretty soon.

I still haven't figured out how to post photos. Been to busy working on projects. If you will send me a PM I might be able to attach photos to my reply.

Quick question... the flaps that fold over the rear seat are wood covered in the carpet?

This is a great idea and solves the rear seat hinge problem when using the area as a bed.

The main cover, and the two folding extensions, are 5/8" OSB.

I don't even get My JK until this Wednesday and I already want one of these. The 4" stud ht and OSB thickness seem to level out the folded down seat area nicely with storage area. Seems like its a great short term sleeping solution for a night or two or just a lot of usable storage for a 2 man overland trip. Great job.

Default Locking System

This is something that I need to build and hopefully will start this weekend.

I was looking at it today and thinking of a possible locking system. I was thinking that if you connected the front 2x4 to the lid and cut the front of the stock cubby cover and connected that to the bottom of the 2x4 if would be locked when you close the tailagate.

The frame is pretty solid. Disconnecting the rear piece from the side members would compromise that.

I am planning to put this in my Sport. I don't have a seat to cover, but it would be nice to have small gear tucket out of the way.

Thanks for the post.
