Default Dallas/Fort Worth BBQ suggestions?

Hello to all you in the Lone Star State. I will be down in the Dallas/Fort Worth area this weekend to hopefully test drive my JK which is being upgraded at Screaming Lizard Customs in Bedford.

I am a big fan of BBQ and understand you got some really good BBQ down there. I am looking for some suggestions of places that I must go to while there for authentic Texas BBQ. I am sure everyone has their favorite place, all suggestions are welcome. A friend of a friend who lives down there told me to try Risky's BBQ in the Ft. Worth Stockyards, Sonny Bryan's and Sammy's.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

The only Sonny Bryans worth visiting is the original.
It's off Inwood and Harry Hines in Dallas. The rest are very similar to Dickies BBQ (chain)

Enjoy your stay, post up pics when you get your ride back...

North Main BBQ in Euless (right next door to Bedford). They have been world champs for ribs several times. Where are you staying? I may come pick you up to go to any of the places you mentioned - they all have great BBQ. Need to be picked up at DFW or a ride to SLC, hell, I can handle that too. That way you could get a feel of a hemi jk and evo coilovers before you try yours out. I just noticed your going to be running 37s with 5.13 gears on d60s so you'll get a real feel for yours as I'm running the same.

I recommend Sammy's in Uptown, Dallas. They are the best, imo.

Tell Gerry that Todd says to treat you right. He's a great guy. What are you getting done? It must be a Hemi conversion or an EVO to travel that far.

RJB - Thanks for the offer. But most likely I will just take a cab to SLC. Don't want to spoil the test drive of my jeep by riding in a similarly set up one. Been waitin to long.

As, for going out for BBQ I am up for any place. World champ ribs sounds great. I am going to be staying at the Westin near the airport. Will be in DFW early on Sat.

Nope. I missed this thread. Wow. You are doing alot more than I thought. Awesome. Is it the black JK? If so, I saw it a couple of weeks ago and drooled all over it so I apologize for putting my germs all over your Jeep.

I can only see the text - pictures are blocked from my work computer.

Yes, it is a black JK. Been down at the SLC shop for a few weeks now.

No worries about the germs, going to have it washed before I get it back any way. JK

Yup. I saw it. We raised it, we lowered it, we drooled everywhere. I hope he has good soap.

You will be very pleased with it. Gerry is the best at this stuff.

Would you believe all of the above and then some. Go to the extreme section and look the thread on the project entitled "next stage of the build".
