You need it. I have an air compressor, but I don't have suitable facilities for piping air to any other devices. So there's cost and complication to install that in addition to the lockers. Then there's the lessor threat of losing air--pinched/broken line, broken compressor, etc--therefore losing your lockers. I have electricity. It makes no sense to me to require folks to install another activation system when electricity is already available and there is zero advantage to that other activation system.

The Jeep and virtually all vehicles use pneumatic systems--HVAC controls, emission systems, etc. But, that's because the air is already there. The ARB lockers demand too much air for that air supply and require the addition of an activation source. Yes, some people are using that ARB air compressor to air up their tires. But I've chosen to keep the engine compartment free of that additional clutter--especially since I'll be using much of that space to install a RIPP SC next year.

It's not the lockers, which are allegedly great. It's the air. There is zero advantage to activating them with air. And I've detailed the disadvantages above.

I still like the air lockers. My friend has them in his Power Wagon and has never had a problem with them he said. I'll give em a try.

haha she was driving her suv..so i was a bit away from her. but with only 36 miles on the Volvo now...didnt want to push the new engine too hard. It was just weird though, it is a straight 6 engine and it only takes normal unleaded gas even though its turbo'ed. the swedish engineers are something else...
