BTW, what's up with chains and pick-up drivers? I saw more folks using a chain to pull someone out instead of a tow strap. And, on top of that they'd take the chain and use the hooks to attach it to either the tow hitch ball, or to the openings where trailer safety chains go. I taught at least a half dozen people today that a tow rope is a lot safer because it doesn't store kinetic energy like a chain, and that instead of attaching to the safety chain points, use the tow hitch pin through the tow rope loop (or, better yet, have a receiver mounted shackle available). Someone's going to get hurt out there.

Tow rope? or recovery strap? Tow ropes are not made for recovery, just for towing and usually have hooks attached. A recovery strap with loops are best but I have used chains (without jerking) when the attachment points are sharp.

I have both a tow rope with loops, and a recovery strap (snatch strap) with loops. The tow rope with loops doesn't stretch, is much shorter, and is much easier to use with stuck cars in the snow and such. The recovery strap is 30 feet long, unstretched, and takes up a lot of room on the road when I use it. So, don't even carry it in the Jeep unless wheeling when I'm not worried about tying up traffic.

Same here. Have my Teraflex Recovery Kit with me that has a snatch strap with loops, as well as a regular tow rope with loops. The tow rope works out better in these situations than a snatch strap. I tried to keep my recoveries to a bare minimum yesterday just because I didn't want to end up ruining the rear driveshaft with how it's been lately. Sure be glad when I get the swap done .

Hey I have got a buddy in Tulsa who is looking to get out for some things and is stuck. He is a former jeep owner and going to be a jk owner in the spring. If somebody in the t town area is up for helping that would be cool. Brandon freebern 918-894-3369 no pressure, he just commented on my status about it
