Even if you don't do much off roading I would still go with the TF coil kit if you plan to get metal bumpers or anything else heavy up front. . The stock rubi coils really really sag under any weight. When I installed JUST the ARB bumper I had 1.5" of clearance from the top of the stock tire and the fender flare. I was afraid to add the winch because I thought I would rub just going over a pothole or up a driveway.

I have an X with gas shocks with just under 12k miles. What are the benefits to new shocks?

Better ride quality, the ride was completely different when I went from X to 2.5 coil/shock.

I am so glad I went with the coils and shocks. I think It's totally worth the extra $$$ even if you aren't going to take it out a lot.

I am going the same route...I plan on getting a 2.5" lift (maybe within the next 3-6 mos). Allthough I wont be doing any extreme offroading, I plan on getting the lift w/shocks...It may be a little more expensive, but to me it will be $$$$ well spent just in case my offroading changes (better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it ). I have been tempted many times to get a BB kit just so I can run 35's & make the JK look more aggressive w/the lifted stance, but I held off. It may take some time to save the $$$, but in the end you will be happy. As for the stock parts you could probably sell them to offset the cost if you dont plan on keeping them.....Best of luck on your choice....A difficlut one when pulling the trigger in getting your first lift.......

Default News from TeraFlex and NorthRidge

I took the liberty of sending e-mails to Dave at NorthRidge (who rocks!) and Joe at TeraFlex. Here's thier responses.

Seems like based on the vendors I should most def go the extension route.

If you don't get the coils, you will always wonder just how much better your jeep would have done with the coils instead of the factory springs and a piece of plastic. I have not read one bad thing about that coil kit.

The new shocks will give you a ton more articulation. With the shock adapters, you will have the same amount of flex as stock. You will just be able to fit bigger tires.

I have the coil w/shocks but I have an X. If you are going to go offroad I would recommend getting the shocks for the articulation. If you are no going to wheel very hard go with the extensions. Either way you will be getting a great kit.
