Default 2012 driveshaft problem with auto trans

Does anyone know if the 2012 JKs with an auto trans have the same problem as previous years with the front driveshaft boot being torn after lifting?

it's got more problems that that. first off, the exhaust cross over is pushed forward on the 2012 and your boot will hit it instead of the tranny sump pan. you can fix this by installing a set of teraflex exhaust spacers. second, the angle of your drive shaft is steeper than before and so, the cv boot at the output shaft will sit in a constant state of pinch with any lift you install. you really need to install an aftermarket drive shaft if you plan on lifting your jeep.

Will an aftermarket driveshaft solve both problems or just the second problem you mentioned? Thanks.

Does that also apply to even the smallest of lifts (leveling kits)?

2dr or 4dr, or both? How much "lift" are you talking about?

Go to the TeraFlex site there is a video explaining it.

Ok, watched their video - they said anything more than 3" of lift is a problem.

A problem meaning you need to change the drive shaft, but if you put longer shocks you only have about 2 1/4" before you will be resting on the exhaust unless it is moved back.

Agreed, it's all about the total travel. My advice is coming from EVO on my rig, so whatever they say flies for me.

Glad I came across this thread... this is great info. I think the spacers are a good idea for any lift and I will be looking into ordering the TF spacer kit asap.

This forum has sure been educating me.....
