I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger for the 4dr rubicon, I'm wondering how obvious are the power gains for the larger tires? Specifically Do you need to regear for 35's or will it be a slug. I have test driven and it doesn't appear that way. Although I'd like to hear from some people with experience.

Thanks guys

I also drive a stick right now on my 09 2dr, there is not one manual within a 400 mile distance of me so the only option for a 4dr is an automatic. How much will I miss the stick? Are there any losses off road driving an automatic or regarding lifts that I should worry about?

Man i just traded in a 2011 2 door sport 3.73 gears 6 speed for a 2012 2 door 6 speed with 3.21s the difference is night and day i can run 80-85 down the highway with no problem at all. Sure i took a loss but im really happy with my jeep now and love this new engine. As far as the rubi goes it comes factory with 4.10s add a small lift and some 35s and your good to go. May want to consider sleeves and gussets if you wheel hard. As far as the auto vs stick goes i will only own a manual jeep but thats just me i enjoy the fun factor. I to had my 12 delivered to me it was 210 miles away but its want i wanted and im extremely happy with it.

I just got mine last Tuesday and lifted it on Wed. 3in OME with 35"KM2's. It is also a manual. There is some drop in power but it still has alot more power than my 07. My gas went from about 17.5mpg on day 1 to between 14 and 15 after the lift. Now keep in mind that I only have 200 miles on it so it is not broken in and I haven't used a procal or other programmer to adjust for the tires. I really notice the extra power on the highway. No need to gear down when going up hills and you can run at 75mph and still be below 2500 rpm's.
Now for the other advantages of the 12. It is way more quiet, and more comfortable. I thought I would miss my 07 but I don't miss it one bit. However If I had to order my 2012 again I would get an automatic.

Why would you get an auto? This is one of the hardest decisions for me because everything I know is manual, I just don't drive autos that much. Especially offload

Okay, right now I can get basically any color In a auto. 400 miles away there is a cosmos blue manual. Do you guys like that color? I have always driven a black jeep. Will I hate it the whole time or does the color grow on you?

Dude, don't drop 30k on a new 2012 and hope the color grows on you, just my advice. Black or white are best IMO.

Lot of money to settle for something at the moment then a yr later, the new wears off and your standing in your driveway starring at your money pile like
" damn ! I hate that color ! "

I have had the opportunity to drive both manual and auto 2012's that have been lifted. I just think the Auto is more responsive. I am a very conservative manual driver and don't like winding out the RPM's to see the true benefits of the extra horse power. I just think the auto is a little faster to accelerate. Also the auto won't stall out on the trails as much and your leg won't get as tired.
As for the color don't get something you have doubts about. Either you like it or you don't. I think you would grow tired of a color before you grow into liking it. I love the dozer. Alot of people aren't fond of it, especially in pictures.

Keep in mind the 2012 not only has more up, but the auto tranny is much improved as well. I think the manual tranny is the same as prior years.
