Default 2wd to 4wd

I have a 2009 2wd jku. I know it sucks. LOL. I inherited it. Not ideal I know but it is a real sharp jk. Aftermarket bumpers, 4" RC lift, pro comp rims and 35" procomp tires. I have never owned a 2wd drive vehicle and I don't like the idea of it . Any ideas on the cost and labor required to convert to 4wd. This is my first post and I truly enjoy being apart of this community. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys (gals)

Haha that's what I was thinking. Kinda has alittle sentimental value though.

There are quite a few threads scattered around, these two came up on a quick search. Unfortunately the one I had bookmarked that broke down the costs is no longer here.

If you can do the work yourself and source the parts on the cheap, this can save a bunch of money over buying a 4wd and replacing everything.

I know of at least one member here that did the 2 to 4 conversion recently on his JK. Try this thread:

I helped convert one, its all bolt on and quite easy to do yourself. You can buy all parts used for less than 3k.

Jaker is the one I helped and he has a good list with part numbers for the smaller odds and ends.

You can do it on the cheap side like me.

I bought my TCase for $250 off a member.

Now I'm trying to save up for a front axle.

Found front and rear DriveShafts on CL for $75 for both.

Just need to to buy the shifter linkages, front axle, tranny tail housing, and shaft.

Then I'll be 4WD.

You can do it cheap if you take your time and find the right deals.

For what you paid for the Jeep (nothing ) , I would build it .That way you will end up with exactly what you want . Keep us informed with your decision !

You're not alone I'm working on a conversion myself.
