I'm equal opportunity...lol...I don't mind big Jeeps that never see the trail. It's how we enjoy a relatively low-cost production platform that easily slips out of its street clothes and into a heavy-duty wheeling uniform rather easily. And there's a lot of folks that like to get off pavement but also have to drive it to work everyday.

I can only say what I did and how it helped me. One consideration with the 33/35 question is how hard it is to get into. I've got a 2.5" lift with mine and I'm 6'4 and have to hop just slightly to get in now. If the OP's got a prego wife that might be something to think about, or at least some really good steps and handles if she has to drive it. A 35" tire will undoubtedly add another inch of height under the axle over a 33" tire, then add that to any lift you put in.

Speaking of Rainier... the paved roads up there are more enjoyable in a sports car or on a motorcycle. I will be trying my hand at the Naches trail this summer though. If at any point I'm sitting there with an upside down Jeep in pieces and it was because of my choice to go with 33's...mark this thread and beat me with it

Default New 35s... I guess.

Well I bought my 35s . And to be fair I was not in my "right" mind . On Monday I had surgery due to my dentist screwing up . Tuesday afternoon my brother comes over and tells me he is heading to Discount to buy some tires for his TJ.... High on 2, 335MG Oxycodone pills for pain I decided that would be a great idea . Ended up walking out buying 5, 315/70r17s DC "Crushers" . I am getting them installed Saturday so I will post some pics after they are on. I am also heading to Moab at the end of this month, March, so I will be able to report on how good they are to drive from Denver to Moab as well as some moderate to difficult trails, no metal masher for me not until I have Lockers . Anyhow have a great weekend !

Cheers

Congrats on your decision and your new tires!

Moab is awesome on 35's. You'll love it.

Go with 35s I'm glad I did
What lift do you have? And are those stock flares trimmed? Thinking of cutting mine I've got 34s on 2.5 lift just trying to see what it look like.

Everything looks good. little worried about the pinch point on the rear tires .... but all in all very happy . tires off the jeep measrue are 34.9(34.87) and tires on Jeep measure in at 34.5(about 34.467).

Very large tires fit great with the 1.5" coil leveling kit, over all 2.023" lift, and with the flat fenders! Again little worried about the pinch point in front of the rear tires, i need to find a large curb and flex the rear and see if it hits, or if it warms up I will throw the Jack under it.

Edit** I bought 5, only 4 shipped , Discount tire got really pissed they forced their shipper to expedite ship the 5th tire should be here Monday night.

Looks good mine is very similar to yours, same color, same wheels. I currently have 33"x12.5x 17 Mickey Thompson mtz's that I'm actually pretty happy with, except there pretty noisy. But it is a Jeep. That being said after reading this posts I'm pretty sure I'm going with 35's when these are done. I've always been worried about gearing, but after reading these seem like it won't be much different than it is with the 33's.

I faced the same question and went with a compromise. 305/70/17 which along with a 285/75/17 are a 34 inch tire.
