Are 33's too much for 3.73s on a 2012?
That Jeep has plenty of torque and HP to carry 33's.....especially if you have the 6 sp manual. I took mine deer hunting this weekend and pulled a trailer that weighs 1300# loaded.....on most hills....and we are talking Georgia hills, not the Rocky Mountains here, it could hold its own and not have to be brought back down to 5th at 65 mph....you get down in the 50 range you will be changing gears going up hills.
The pentajesus can run them no problems. I have read reports of 44s on the 3.73 rear end and still have Ferrari like acceleration Ha ha. You should have no problems with 33s. I don't notice a difference on my 2011 lump.
The biggest issue with the Pentastar is the roll out torque. It's lower than the 3.8 was and why Chrysler has a torque specific Pentastar on the drawing board. Should be interesting to see what comes of it and it's important to note that in large the charts I built out are focused on cruise speeds, not an end all for low end torque on the trail. So if you really cram a lot of off road use through your JK, it's going to be better to stay in the upper range of gears.
