Exactly. I drove around the block and didn't even go over 30mph. I did some very mild S-turn swerving and I felt like I was going to roll. Someone needs to make a swaybar modification where the bar curves in so it stays along the frame rail and avoids any tire contact.

well, I would like to update this thread, im still on the fence. Right now, at full stuff (lifted by a hi-lo), disconnected, and with wheel turned to full lock, I have about 2" clearance all around in the wheel well. This is running the 255 75 r 17 BFG M/T's on MOAB's with 1.5" spidertrax spacers

I have decided I am definetly running new wheels.. Cragar Soft 8's 15x8 4" backspacing.
and I still dont know if I should order 33x12.5r15 BFG A/T's or 35x12.5r15 BFG A/T's, they pretty much cost the same, and I doubt either wheel will rub. But unfortunately, I think the 33's are going to still look to small with the hi clearance 1.5" wider xenons since they are at max 1" taller than my current setup

Im just wondering if my A/T trans and 3.73 gearing is adequate for 35's.

anyone run 35x12.5 on an auto with 3.73's?? how was it? you gotta run with overdrive turned off?

I am going to order one or the other tomorrow

well, here i am answering my own question.... I did a search and found a few threads.. 35's 3.73 and auto on a 4 door is not a good idea. Im going with the 33's

heres a thread i found https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38912&highlight=35%27s+3.73+auto+ trans

33s and 3.73s arent much better. I run 285/70r17s, 4 door, auto trans and with a headwind the trans shifts outta OD pretty quick or looses speed fast. on slight inclines, same thing. on FLAT roads, it stays at 65 for a while, then after 2-3 miles i look down & notice rpms are the same but the speed has dropped to about 59. it will hold at about 55 mph.

here's my setup (added weight):
- 08 4-door X w/hardtop
- 3.73s and auto trans
- 2.5" skyjacker lift
- mopar offroad bumper w/tabor 9k winch
- or-fab tire/jerry can carrier (no cans on for DD)
- aluminum mopar side steps
- skidrow eng/tans skidplate
- 5 x 285/70s bridgestone duelers AT revos on 17" incubus rims 4.5" BS

so, kinda standard stuff. nothing really exotic. a little extra weight, but not extreme. so you get an idea of what you might expect.

I took mine with 37s, 1"' body, 2" BB and it did rub a little. I cut the rear tub opening to the spotwelds and it did rub, but not enough to cut any line into the tire. I scored about 630 on the RTI ramp and they just started to hit, but if any real world wheeling with a wheel in the air might do a little damage.

I didnt cut up to where the flares attach, didnt have a spot welder on hand, but got access to one now... we will see.

As for 35s - I wouldnt be worried with the setup I have, I had about 600 lbs of "beef" in the back and did a run on a coarse and they just rubbed a little, nothing that put a line on the tire anyway... So I think that it wouldnt have rubbed at all with 35s and a little less weight in the back

Hope it helps...

I put a bumper, winch on the front plus a 1" body lift and it now sits even with a stock rubi, I havent flexed it out yet, but Im sure it would have to rub. Ill let you know after this weekend...
What do you mean sits even with a stock Rubi? Seems like it should be an inch and a half taller even without the body lift.

If no lift + skinny xenons + 35" tires = no rub. I may have to change my "to do" list. If there is a little rubbing, you could just add a 1.75 lift with little affect to drive line, allignment or axle centering.

I wish I could post a few... I was in a hurry, forgot my camera, and waiting on a couple guys that got pics to send them to me...

I have the wider flares, im not sure if this setup will work with the narrow flares, only because I dont know if there is any change in the two.

The reason for the stock height is the winch, bumper, and skidplate. If it had the plastic bumper and skids, im sure there would I would be higher. The rear is about 5" higher, so if the front didnt nose dive from the weight Im sure it would even things out. The cure is new springs, I know, but it works for my needs right now...

I know-
