nope. the housing is made differently to accomodate the locker and sensor going in.

They think its possible. Basicly remove front rubi locker, replace with factory rear locker (+ new shafts). Rear gets new 35 spline shafts and new ARB locker.

Edited to say:

WOL got your post in before me. Not trying to start an argument. Just showing what I found.

unfortunately, the article in question was writen quite some time ago. and, that's the problem with magazine articles - they become outdated quickly and the information on them never get updated the way information on the internet does. so you know, mel from off road evolution is the one who did the work on this jeep and the photos you see were taken in his shop. as mentioned, i have mel's sahara d44 with arb and 35 spline shafts on my rubicon jk now. to the best of my knowledge, the possibility of doing what this article had once suggested has since been determined to be not possible - or, at least, not at this time with what is available to work with.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say if you have a rubi axle you already have a hefty 32 spline axle. If you go chromolly with rolled splines your gonna have a stout axle to begin with.

32 spline compared to 35 spline is marginal unless the thickness of the shaft itself is larger. However stock rubicon axles are 32 spline, thicker ring and pinion, huge dana 60 sized shafts. The stock rubicon axle and locker are built tough.

naw, you're not going out on a limb at all. the 32 spline rubi shafts are tough and if you get a set of chromoly shafts, they will be all you need. however, the rubi lockers are another story altogether. me, i've gone through two of them in less than 40,000 miles.

I will agree but you are not the typical offroader. Most of us will never see the stuff you do. I am trying to get there but its a ways off. Besides you dont count you make part of your living from showing off your Jeep.

So would chromo rear shafts be a waste without replacing the locker? More specifically, would the factory rubi locker be the weak link?
