And my whole build is under $3000, and that includes lift, 35's, wheels, axle reinforcement, and rubicon transfercase.
My friends jeep has flowmaster exhaust on 3.6 still sounds like a 4 banger but my 3.8 is straight piped it sound like a v8 at low revs

I would rather have a 3.6 with more power and sound like a rice burner. Than have a 3.8 that sounds cool and drives like a slug.

It might sound nice at idle, but at higher RPM straight piped V6 sound like ass. I'm guessing you like to be noticed.

Go cheap on everything if you're building a "look at me" Jeep. No reason to spend lots of money on building a good rig. BB, Toyos and 3.21 gears will be perfect.

I prefer to keep my 3.6 exhaust stock and as quite as can be. I sneak up on elk on the trail all the time. If I need it loud I have my 5.7 LS1 99' Firebird Trans Am with with long tubes. I can rattle the dishes out of the cupboard in the kitchen from the garage with that.
It's soooo loud that when I rev the engine next to a guy on a Harley Davidson motorcycle at a stop light, HE rolls up his window.

Enjoy your minivan engine.

The 3.6 is leaps and bounds a better engine than the 3.8.

Just because 3.8 is a bigger number than 3.6 doesn't mean it's better...

Sure it does! Haha. Funny. My 3.6 has MORE HP than my first "performance" minded "non-car"....a '93 Ford Lightning. It had a 5.8l V8 with GT40 intake. Made about 240hp. My '12 Jeep...285. My first car, a 75 Trans Am with a 455 made the same HP as my Jeep. I remember taking it to the track and running mid 16 second quarter times. My Jeep is right around those kinda times. My 3.6 makes more HP than my wife's 5.0 Mustang GT did when it was new in '92.

The 3.8? Not eve close to any of those examples. Maybe you should invest in a supercharger. Oh. Better yet! Put a dry nitrous system on it. And a big ass fart can exhaust. OoooooooommmmmPPPPAAAAAAA! Or just get a 3.6. It has cool acronyms on the engine cover like "VVT" and "H.O." Haha.

On a real note? Just drive the Jeep. Put whatever you want on it. Break it, fix it, learn. And oh yeh...."Just Empty Every Pocket". See ya on the trails.

Sent from the fast lane while driving one handed.

I think you misunderstood me.

What I was trying to tell this kid is that, just because he has a 3.8 V6 in his Jeep doesn't make it better than the 3.6 in the newer Jeeps as he seems to think there is no difference between the old 3.8 and new 3.6.

Thanks. Pardon my ignorance but what is a rear pinch seam?

The sharp corner on the body panel in front of your rear tires
